Smart Investors Don’t Guess. They Read The Daily Upside.
Markets are moving faster than ever — but so is the noise. Between clickbait headlines, empty hot takes, and AI-fueled hype cycles, it’s harder than ever to separate what matters from what doesn’t.
That’s where The Daily Upside comes in. Written by former bankers and veteran journalists, it brings sharp, actionable insights on markets, business, and the economy — the stories that actually move money and shape decisions.
That’s why over 1 million readers, including CFOs, portfolio managers, and executives from Wall Street to Main Street, rely on The Daily Upside to cut through the noise.
No fluff. No filler. Just clarity that helps you stay ahead.
Hi 👋🏻
You know what? When we think of travelling in the cheapest way possible, 3 main things bother us.
Food 2. Stay 3. Transport
So today I’ll be sharing how you can optimise your stay so you can save a lot on travel and make it cheap.
Let’s make your stay cheap
Making your stay cheap is really very difficult, but let me share 6 strategies you can use.
But remember one thing, it’s practically impossible for you to follow everything while you travel, and sometimes you’ll face unexpected problems that will stop you from thinking properly. So always make it easy for yourself, don’t take stress.
Strategies
Location - Do not book stays right next to tourist hotspots or major attractions. If you stay even one or two metro stops away, you will experience a reduced price. And it’ll be easy for you to access as well.
Duration - Night-by-night bookings are expensive. Weekly or 7 to 10-day stays help you get better pricing. Even if the platform does not show a discount, message the host and ask for it.
Talk directly to the owner - After finding a place online, call or message the property directly. In India, especially, direct bookings often cost less than platform prices and avoid extra fees.
Avoid peak days during your trip - Weekend stays are costlier than weekdays. If possible, plan stays from midweek to midweek. The same room becomes cheaper without changing anything else.
Use hostels - Hostels are not only dorm beds. Many offer private rooms that cost less than budget hotels and are usually better located. This works very well for solo travellers.
Avoid last-minute bookings - We try to find Last-minute stays for flexibility purposes, but that usually costs more. Book accommodation early, especially in popular cities or during holidays.
Don’t compromise
You can find cheap stays to make your stay overall cheap, but don’t compromise on these:
Do not compromise on safety just to save money.
Do not choose extremely remote locations with poor connectivity.
Do not over-optimise the stay, otherwise, you will feel exhausted.
One decision to try next time
On your next trip, do not try to optimise everything.
Pick just one thing.
Stay two metro stops away instead of near the attraction.
Or extend your stay by a few days in one place.
Or book directly with the property instead of a platform.
One small decision is enough to noticeably reduce your accommodation cost. Don’t try to do it all at once. It’ll be overwhelming.
Thank you for checking today’s edition. I’ll see you on Saturday.
