Hi 👋🏻
When we plan travel, we usually focus on routes, prices, and other things. But one factor plays a major role in how much we spend, and that factor is the time of day we travel.
Early morning travel often saves money, and most travellers overlook this completely. (Sorry if it reminds you of the poor dogs who suffer because of their parents 😂)
Here is how it works
Early morning buses, trains, and flights are often priced lower than daytime options. Demand is lower because fewer people want to wake up early, so operators reduce prices to fill seats.
If you compare the same route, the difference in pricing between a 6 am departure and a 10 am departure is easy to notice. The service and all remain the same, but the cost drops because demand drops.
You avoid peak-hour pricing
If you arrive early, it helps you move before peak hours begin. Local transport, taxis, and app-based cabs tend to be cheaper in the early morning. Once rush hours start, prices increase due to demand and surge pricing.
You naturally reduce food spending
Early morning travel means you leave before breakfast hours and reach your destination before lunch. This naturally delays eating and reduces spending on food during travel days.
Over multiple travel days, this small saving helps you a lot.
You reduce waiting-related expenses
Late arrivals usually come with waiting time, such as waiting for check-in, waiting for transport frequency to increase, or waiting for shops to open. Waiting often leads to unnecessary spending.
Early arrivals allow you to move immediately, which helps avoid impulse purchases and convenience spending.
When early morning travel may not work
Early morning travel is not suitable for everyone. If lack of sleep affects your health or decision-making, it can lead to higher spending later in the day.
It works best when used strategically.
Thank you!
Early morning travel works because demand is lower. Lower demand leads to lower prices, and lower prices help you travel longer on the same budget.
This is one of the simplest ways to reduce travel costs without removing the experiences.
I will see you in the next edition. Till then, keep travelling.
See ya!
